Atomic Time Bomb!

So here I am 371/2 weeks.  I can't believe its almost time for baby girls arrival.  There's so many emotions going around in my head, as well as, husbands.  I think, Jong, had it right.  He said to me the other night, "You know, I feel anxious, happy, excited, nervous, overwhelmed, overjoyed, all the the same time!"  I then looked at him and said, "Thats how us woman feel a lot of the time."  But he's right.  Right now there are just so many emotions flying around I don't know quite what to do with all theses thoughts and feelings.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and it went great.  I found out that I am 4cm dilated! (holy moly)  When she told me this, I looked at her and asked, "isn't that considered active labor?"  her response, "Yes, if you were contracting..."  Well I'm not, and to be quite honest I really haven't felt anything.  Weird?  I have had a little back pain, and during the night I may have had some cramping; but I honestly can't remember if it was a dream or reality.  My doctor said it was probably real, I just wasn't fully awake to know.  She also told me that she felt a bulge in my "sac" and was pretty sure that I'd be one of those women that their water burst and goes everywhere. (I thought, great if this happens at work who gets to clean it up?) But at least I'd have a clear sign of  "It's time to go to the hospital!" She was very hopeful that baby girl was coming soon!  She told me to get all my ducks in a row and keep my bags with me at  ALL TIMES!

Well of course this gets me excited and even more nervous.  And all day I felt as if I was waiting for something to happen.  I had cramping all day after my appointment, but it was manageable, so I knew it was nothing to be concerned about.  But I just kept waiting and waiting...And here it is the next day and I'm still waiting.  (I would just like to say that I have NO patience, not really ever have I had patience- I would like to  thank my dad for that)  And all I have to do now is have some P.A.T.I.E.N.C.E.

So here I am ready to blow and just tick tocking away....(That's what Jong calls me anyway, Kendall, the atomic time bomb.)  He's more nervous about me freaking out on him and that makes him ready for baby girl to be here too!  So I guess we will see, today, tomorrow, two weeks from now...Baby girl we are ready to meet you!

Here's a picture of my baby bump at 371/2 weeks!

Ladybug Party...

So here it is 6am and I can't sleep as usual.  Now I know there are a lot of people that wake up around now, but me, I should still be sleeping  because I only went to bed around 1am.  So this gives me time to write about my wonderful friends who threw a little shower for me and Kensleigh the other night.

On Tuesday, my friend Rachel had planned a little get together for me and a couple other girlies!  I must say that I owe my friendship with them to PB because I met all of them through work and we all have become dear friends who I couldn't imagine my life without.

So I met Rachel at her house, in tears I may add.  ( Yes, I have now experienced what its like to to cry for no apparent reason , but I just couldn't help myself and I couldn't stop.) Darn those hormones!  And Rachel and Talie took me to the nail salon (where we always go for some girl time) to get a much needed mani/pedi.  It was lovely and my feet felt so much better after that; plus I'd like to think it helps the swelling some.

We all went back to Rachel's for dinner; which was so yummy!  And dessert-Chocolate cupcakes topped with a ladybug cookie! (Talie had made these.)  And boy were they good! Then we sat around and just talked and had some much needed girl conversation.

Rachel decorated her house so pretty, pink and green flowers and even made a banner with Kensleigh's name that she hung above the mantle. (Which I plan on putting in her nursery)  So here's a few pictures from the evening.  Rachel, Talie, and Lindsay Thank ya'll so much! (and I must apologize, I told myself all evening that we needed to get a picture of the 4 of us, however I left with only pictures of the decor and the cupcakes of course!

Enjoy!

Love the name!!!

Pictures that Rachel painted for Kensleigh's nursery!  She's so talented! If you notice in the very left bottom corner of the green painting there is a little pink ladybug.  Rachel and I were both Phi Mu's, so we tend to love ladybugs.

My cupcake!

The table!  Talie did a great job with the cupcakes!

Okay, so I'm obsessed with the cupcakes and ladybugs...you got me!

I've Started to Waddle!

So I feel like a duck or a penguin. Take your pick... I wake up and waddle,  ALL. DAY. LONG.  So I hear this is good news, the beginning of the end...I guess thats true.  But let me tell you about the constant peeing and very sore hips (among other things).  I'm pretty sure that my sweet sweet husband is going to have to start helping me out of bed in the middle of the night.

My last checkup went great.  My body is progressing extremely well according to my doctor.  So thats good news too!  I am currently 36 weeks and feel as if I could deliver any day now. I feel like i'm on standby all the time; always on alert.  Although I guess this is true too, but I guess its even more true after the 37th week.  I can only imagine how i'll be feeling then.

I am still managing working.  All while I waddle around the store.  Not quite sure how I do it, because I get very tired, very easily and always feel like a I need a nap.  But I think it's better than sitting around the house just waiting.  Though, I'm sure I could find plenty to do to keep my self occupied around here too!

I am still pretty anxious and keep thinking about what I want to do before she arrives.  Most if it, is stuff I can do after the birth, but you know me, I always want everything done NOW!  Like blog (about the rest of the sweet baby showers & her nursery), baby proof house (which is pretty much done, just a couple of things left of the list), and you know deep clean the whole house, which I am very tempted to hire someone to come and do, and not to mention prepare a few meals to freeze.  So not a whole lot, but just enough to keep my mind spinning...

Oh, I still have to pack my bags!  Maybe i'll do that tomorrow!?

Anxious...

So for some reason I have been very anxious these past few days.  I guess what started my anxiety was having Baby Girls showers.  Receiving all the fun things for her just made "her" all the more real.  So now at night I think about what still needs to be done, what things I still need, and when I should pack my bag.  For the most part I don't need too much more; yes there are things I still want, but if she was to come tomorrow I would just have to send someone out to buy diapers...

I am currently 33 1/2 weeks.  Now, at my last doctors appointment I was told I was measuring 2 weeks ahead, so I am curious to see what they will say at my next one.  I am kinda hoping she makes her appearance at the end of September instead of October, but I'll take her when she wants to come.  My original due date is October 4th!

She has dropped a little and I feel her movements in my lower stomach verses my upper.  But I tell you this last part of pregnancy is not as breezy as the first part.  I was never "sick sick" in the beginning, but rather very tired and nauseous.  The second trimester was a breeze, and now here I am tired again and uncomfortable.  I now wake Jong up when getting out of the bed during the night for my routine potty breaks (3 times a night) , and I now sleep with mounds of pillows plus my pregnancy pillow.  And I have finally come to terms with my "puffy" pregnancy feet. Yes, they are lovely...

Her nursery is almost finished!  I am waiting on my bookshelf and once I get that up I'll take some pictures and show you guys!  I have started washing all of her stuff, sheets, blankets, towels...And I think I might go on a mad cleaning spree soon; I guess I am nesting as they call it!

Okay, thats all for now! I'll post pictures soon!

showers....(part one)

So I have been thrown 2 wonderful showers to honor little miss Kensleigh!  And they were wonderful! Kensleigh's got some pretty cool stuff for when she is here!  (Which I can't believe is less than 8 weeks away, or I hope less than 8 weeks!)

My Aunt had a small family get together for me at her house and then work threw me shower!  They were both fun times with fun people!  Here's some pics, so Enjoy!

Aunt Lynn, and cousins Beth and Dana.

Beth, Aunt Mary Ann, and Dana! I must say the food was yummy!

Aunt Ellen and Lynn

Bath tub fun!  I can now officially bath baby girl!

This is my favorite picture- My mom and Aunt Lynn!

I really wanted to play with the bouncer, so they sat on the floor and proceeded to put it together for me! Wasn't that just so sweet of them?  I know Jong was very thankful that all he had to do was put batteries in it.  It was a very nice shower and I enjoyed spending the day with part of my fam!

Now onto PB...

Some of the PB crew!

Linda, she was the host and I must say everything was amazing!

Smile big for the Camera!  We only tried to take the picture ourselves like 5 times, but ended up asking some else too, becasue ours was not so pretty!

Towels!

We were all laughing very hard at something and I'm not quite sure what now-but it was funny at the time!

Girlies!

See, still laughing hard!  I love my crew!

Me and Megs!

We had a blast and I am so thankful for everything we received!  I love these guys and so glad to work with each and every one of them!

Still here!

I know its been awhile since my last post and I really just haven't had all that much to say.  So I thought I'd share a recipe with ya'll that I made not that long ago.  It's a Paula Dean, so you know its a good one.
I was watching the food network one morning, ( not a good idea while pregnant because you want to eat everything they show on screen) and on Paula's show she made this and it was oh so mouth watering good. So that day I went out and bought the stuff to make it and had for for dinner the next night! YUM!

Maple-Glazed Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons ancho chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 6 (10-ounce) center cut bone-in pork chops, about 1-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup butter maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • Pecans, toasted and chopped, optional garnish

Directions

In a small bowl, combine the chili powder and salt and sprinkle evenly over both sides of the pork chops.
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and cook until browned, about 2 minutes per side. Reduce the heat to medium, and cook until desired doneness, about for 4 to 6 minutes.
In a small skillet, over medium-high heat, add the balsamic vinegar and cook until reduced by half. Stir in the maple syrup and chicken stock. Cook over medium heat until thick and syrupy, about 5 minutes.
Transfer to a serving platter and serve with the maple syrup. Garnish with toasted pecans, if desired.

Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

10 cups sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/4 to 1/2 cup butter
3 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

Add the potatoes to a large Dutch oven and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer or until the potatoes are tender, about 8 to 10 minutes, drain well. Return the potatoes to the Dutch oven and add the butter, honey, cinnamon, and salt. Beat at medium-low speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve hot.
Cook's Note: For more sweetness, add more honey.

I also made grilled asparagus to go with it, which is one of my FAVORITE veggies.  I normally just wash them and trim off the edges.  Then rub some olive oil all over them and sprinkle with garlic salt.  You can grilled or broil them in the oven until they are tender. Delicious!

Sorry I don't have a picture to share, we gobbled it all down.  Like I said before, I haven't been cooking a lot lately so this was a real treat for Jong and he ate it all in a matter of minutes!
