First day of school and the stomach bug...

So we all know how excited Kensleigh has been to start preschool.  However, the Monday before she was suppose to start school that Wedsneday I noticed she felt a little warm when I was putting her to bed and she had also complained of her head hurting that night.  I really didn't think too much of it until the next morning when she woke up burning like a flame.  Poor girl had a 103 fever and kept telling me over and over, "Mama, I do not feel good..."  Needless to say she didn't eat much and what was consumed, lets just say it wasn't pretty.... She slept ALL afternoon(I had to go wake her up after 4.5 hours) and still went to bed that night around 7:30pm.  She was pitiful....

Needless to say I couldn't send her to school for her FIRST day ever!  I was sad, she was sad, I was sad for her...I was just hoping that it was some random 24 hour bug and she'd be over it so she could go to school on Thursday.  When she woke up on Wednesday she was over 'it', whatever 'it' was...I was happy to have my silly little girl back and she was happy that she could go to school the following day.  All was right with world again!

Wednesday night I made sure I had her backpack packed with everything that was needed.  I got her lunch and snack packed up (Kensleigh even got to help me with that).  She was giddy with excitement.  Thursday morning she woke up ready for preschool.  Saying she was excited was an understatement.  She kept jumping around unable to control her excitement.

Can we say happy little girl?

Hooray for preschool!

'K' for Kensleigh

Cheesing it up!

Kensleigh consoling Mikah telling him he be okay without her for the morning...I think Mikah was thinking "heck yes! no one to steal my toys!"

Onto preschool we went.  As we got closer Kensleigh became very solemn, almost like, "why are we going to preschool?"  For the most part Kensleigh is really outgoing and loud, but when she's around a bunch of people she doesn't know she becomes very reserved.  But I stayed upbeat and told her she would love it!  We waited in the carpool line and finally got to the front.  I go to open the door and I CAN'T GET THE DOOR TO OPEN...Yes people, it WOULD NOT open.  I got really flustered and then tried to unlocked the door but only proceeded to roll down the windows... I know, I know, one would think I would know how to work my own car, but to my advantage it is a new car that I've barely had for a week.  So after what felt like 10 minutes we got the door to open and Susan (the assistant at the preschool) got Kensleigh out and off she went (and off I went embarrassed....I mean, I'm pretty sure I will forever be known as the mom who held up carpool...yep thats me!) Note to self: Car must be in park before opening sliding door from the inside...sigh

Kensleigh came home that afternoon with her friend Ansley and was jumping around that she got to go to preschool too, "like Ansley did mama!" (Ansley was in preschool last year)  She took a great nap and when she woke up she told me all about swinging up high and singing and playing with play dough.  It was an exciting day all around and she's already ready for next week to come so she can go to preschool again!

It's Preschool Time!

Well I finally feel the urge to write and let me tell you big things are happening in the Kim household...

By big, I mean preschool.  Kensleigh starts next week and she I couldn't be more excited.  We have been talking about it all summer and today was the day she got to go and meet her teachers (well one teacher, her other teacher had an emergency at home to deal with)... Now Kensleigh was bouncing around at home, ready to go and get in the car, running around being a silly, giggly little girl and then within 2 minutes of being in the car she passed out.  Yep, she sure did and there was drool...A LOT of drool...

Once I was able to awaken little miss, she was ready to go in and see her preschool.  Right when we walked in her classroom she introduced herself and then went straight to play with the kitchen.  Mikah even decided to join in on the fun and crawled right on over to be with his sister.  Kensleigh had such a big smile on her face and was beaming with happiness.

We met up with our friends and headed to the Chick Fil A and needless to say came home exhausted and ready to nap, who am I kidding both kiddos passed out on the way home and are now both wallowing around in their beds.

In a way I thought i'd be sad and emotional for this day to come but truth be told I am so excited for Kensleigh to take this next step and start this next adventure (because little miss sure does love an adventure).  I was ready and she was ready and it felt so good knowing that.

Heres a few shots of Kensleigh all excited about going to see her preschool and meet her teachers...

I tried to tell her she didn't need her backpack but she went to the closet and wanted to put it on anyway.

All around happy!
She even "packed" her own lunch.  She went to her kitchen and got lots of play food and filled her lunch box to the brim.
One of my favorites...
Growing up too fast.  Such a little girl now.
